About
This site supports my artisan food activity making bulgar wheat and seitan products which I sell through the Oklahoma Food Cooperative. It supports sustainable, frugal, and just kitchens that prepare with love, and serve with care, delicious and nutritious foods.
The bulgar wheat product used in the recipes at this site is not quite the same as the typical store-bought bulgar wheat products carried by natural food grocers. Commercial bulgar has been “pearled” so most of the bran has been removed, it has a white color. The bulgar wheat I make and sell through the Oklahoma Food Cooperative is a whole wheat product that isn’t pearled, so all of the bran and natural goodness of the wheat is present. It is brown in color. Commercial bulgar can simply be soaked in water, my all-natural bulgar must be cooked before eating.
